The First Gaming Easter Egg Was Born Out of Rebellion (And It’s Legendary)

Back in 1980, a programmer named Warren Robinett was working on a game called Adventure. The company refused to credit developers, so Warren decided to leave his mark secretly.

He hid a secret room in the game. If you found it, a message appeared: “Created by Warren Robinett.”

And just like that, the first video game easter egg was born way before it became a trend. It wasn’t part of the gameplay. It wasn’t a glitch. It was pure gamer pride.

Since then, thousands of games have hidden messages, nods, and secrets for curious players to uncover. All thanks to one dev who refused to be invisible.
